Mayor Domenic J. Sarno along with Human Resources and Labor Relations Director Atty. Bill Mahoney and Equal Opportunity Administrator Dan Hall have released the City’s Equal Employment Opportunity Report (EEO4) workforce summary data.
Mayor Sarno stated, “Thanks to Human Resources and Labor Relations Director Atty. Bill Mahoney and Equal Opportunity Administrator Dan Hall for their update and efforts as we continue our initiatives to attract the best and brightest from cabinet heads down to our rank and file.”
“The City remains committed to further developing a strong and diverse workforce. 22 of 29 Departments (exclusive of the School Department) have 25% or greater minority employee representation. Eight of our Departments have 50% or greater minority employee representation. 16 Departments have more than 50% female employees,” said Human Resources and Labor Relations Director Atty. Bill Mahoney. He continued, “The City’s Equal Employment Opportunity Administrator works closely with our Department heads, the Springfield community and area colleges to solicit minority, female and disabled applicants for vacant employment opportunities to ensure a workforce that is representative of our City. Anyone interested in working for the City should visit the City’s website for current job openings and should visit the website weekly as new job opportunities are routinely added to the website.”
Equal Opportunity Administrator Dan Hall said, “I’m satisfied with the numbers, however, there’s always more work to be done. I have been in contact with our city department heads that are underutilized and need to increase their recruitment efforts. I will be working very closely with these departments in the future to ensure that the city is doing its utmost to increase diversity in our city workforce.”
